The retiring Clerk of Oakley Parish Council, Sally Warner, was given a surprise farewell party at the St Leonards Centre in Oakley by the Parish Council.

Sally was unaware that this function was being held in her honour, and she thought she was being taken out to dinner by her husband. "Oakley Parish Council is one of the best run Parish Councils in my constituency, and we owe a great debt to Sally Warner, who has been the Clerk for 29 years. She will be a hard act to follow, and the Parish Council presented her with some flowers, a cheque so that she could buy a garden seat - for which the Parish Council will buy a suitable plaque."

At the farewell party was Cecilia Morrison, a former councillor, County Councillor Anna McNair Scott, local councillors Diane Taylor and Rob Golding.
