Four singers from St Petersburg in Russia attracted an audience of 80 in Hatherden Church to help raise funds. The Lyra Vocal Ensemble, on a tour of this country, put together a popular programme of Russian songs which was widely acclaimed by all present.

After the concert, there was tea at Michaelmas House nearby by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Leonard. After the concert, the leader and events organiser Andrei Sysoev said the group were anxious to raise their profile in England, and would be interested in contacting a manager who could help organise future trips.

"All congratulations to Rosie Swayne for organising this concert, which raised money both for the church and also for OPEN SIGHT. Our thanks also to Andrew and Janet Baines for accommodation the singers before their next engagement in North London.
