Sir George takes over from Club Manager Linda Mitchell and calls the numbers at the Mecca Bingo Club at Andover.
Afterwards he was asked by Lesley Hayes, General Manager, to try to ensure that Bingo was on a level playing field with other forms of “soft” gaming.
“Lesley explained that the restrictions on prizes made it difficult to compete with the National Lottery; and that the 24 hour rule – requiring members to wait a day after they have applied to become a member before they can play – was an additional drawback.”

Sir George said he would pursue these issues with Home Office Ministers
