Sir George draws the raffle in the interval of the performance of Iolanthe by the Andover Operatic Society. Watching is Mrs Sue Parker, Vice-President of the AOS. Appropriately for the occasion – the operetta is set in the Houses of Parliament – the prize was a trip to the top of Big Ben.
“Aurelia and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance; in true Gilbert and Sullivan tradition, there was some improvisation to bring it up to date. The acting and singing was of the highest quality – with the Peers looking particularly aristocratic.”
