The Salisbury Road Post Office, based at the Hexagon, has recently been modernised, changing it to one of the Post Office's main style branches. The change to this branch is part of a three year investment and support programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, which will see around six thousand branches converted to new style branches. The aim of the Post Office is to create a more modern and convenient retail experience for customers, including longer opening hours. "The Post Office at The Hexagon has been refurbished, offering the same products and services, but with longer opening hours. Selected Post Office Services are now available at the retail counter, during the shop opening hours". Sir George was the first customer at the new retail counter, buying a book of stamps. "Each time I go to The Hexagon, they have invested in the store providing an even better quality of service for customers, and with the new competitive range under the Independent brand." With Sir George at the opening were Cllrs Sandra Hawke and Peter Giddings.
