Andover held its Carnival in aid of local charities.

"This year the carnival helped raise funds for the Oblivion Dance Group - an inclusive dance group for children and young adults aged from 7-21. Open to local children and of all ability levels, from all backgrounds, the aim of the group is to provide fun and to build confidence and creativity.

"The other charity is Hampshire Greyhound Rescue, founded eight years ago by a number of greyhound owners in the area. They provide a home for those greyhounds who unfortunately slip through the safety net after their racing careers are over".

Amongst the stands which Sir George visited was the Hampshire Scouting stand, who are hoping to encourage more volunteers to help run the flourishing scout groups in and around the town.

One of the highlights of the carnival was the procession of floats, taking place from 4 o'clock onwards.

"This year's carnival was blessed with good weather, and congratulations to the carnival committee for once again organising a very successful event".
