Steve Hewlett, of Britain's Got Talent, and his puppet Arthur Lager, opened the Kingsclere Church Fete, most of which was held in the church due to the poor weather.

"Despite the rain, there was an excellent turnout, and Steve Hewlett got the fete off to a flying start. There were all the usual attractions including Bell Tower tours, a Bake-off competition, the Ukelele Band (Sticky Fingers) and a fun dog show. The vicar, Rev Lucy Thirtle welcomed everybody to the event, which will raise funds for the fabric of the church".
