The Bombay Sapphire Distillery at Laverstoke was formally opened, and guests were taken round the building to see how the original Portal Mill, making paper for the Bank of England, had been restored.

“This is a very impressive renovation project, which incorporates massive greenhouses, where ingredients for the distillery are grown”.

Guests were given a demonstration of how cocktails should be prepared, visited the giant vats where the gin is distilled, and saw the site of the original mill, above the River Test which runs underneath the building.

“This is a very ambitious project, combining the distillery with an educational experience, giving an insight into how gin is prepared, and how to mix it to provide a variety of interesting cocktails”.
