Lady Young cut the ribbon to open the Flower Festival at St Michaels and All Angels, West Andover. The festival explored the theme of saints and angels, and inside were a variety of floral arrangements, representing the life of 15 apostles or angels.

After the opening, Lady Young was presented with a bouquet by David Hyncica and, together with the Deputy Mayor of Test Valley and Cllr Sandra Hawke, they admired the presentations.
“Carolyn Maidment and her team did a fantastic job in organising the flower show, which will be open for a number of days and is a very professional representation of the life and death of some of the apostles”.

One of the topical presentations was of Saint Andrew, the fisherman brother of Simon Peter, who was said to have been martyred by crucifixion on an X shaped cross or saltaire as he felt unworthy to be crucified on the same type of cross as Jesus. Other saints represented were Saint Leonard, Saint Thomas, Saint Nicholas and Saint Christopher.
