The Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Jan Lovell attended a reception at the Guildhall in Andover, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Andover & District Mencap, and to display the work of local artists.

This is one of several events which will be held throughout the year to mark the 50th anniversary of the formation of Andover & District Mencap.

"Liz Hall, the Vice President of Mencap, has been a stalwart supporter of this marvellous organisation for many years, and one of her achievements was the construction of the Wellington Centre in Winchester Road. These are magnificent headquarters for Mencap, but also a great resource for the town".

At the reception were supporters of Mencap, including Cllrs Sandra Hawke and Zilliah Brooks, and the Leader of the Council, Ian Carr, together with County Cllr Pat West.
