About Matthew Koumis
Matthew Koumis was born in London in 1964. He studied piano at the Royal College of Music, gaining a First, and was awarded a Scholarship to study Greek music in Athens. He completed his studies at the Liszt Academy in Budapest.
Matthew has an eclectic repertoire and has given solo recitals in Britain, France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, U.S.A. and Australia. He has broadcast many times for Radio Suisse Romande and Radio Cyprus, performing and discussing 20th Century music. This season he has performed at the Aeschalus Festival in Elevsina, Greece; and will be performing at the Milner Hall, St. Peter Street, Winchester on 24th November.
Matthew Koumis has a gift of communicating with the audience in words - his introductions, spoken from the concert platform, illuminate the music and bridge the gap between audience and performer.
