A two day exhibition, in commemoration of the First World War, was held at Penton Village Hall over the weekend. The exhibition was put together by local residents, Rod Eggington, and Paul Fraser, using memorabilia, in the main collected by Rod Eggington over the years.

A collection was held for the Royal British Legion, and refreshments were served for those visiting. "A lot of thought has gone into this exhibition, focusing on the links between the Pentons and the First World War. There was a realistic construction of a First World War trench, with an officers' tent nearby. Rod had collected many contemporary photographs, letters and certificates for the period, and the village was enormously lucky to have this resource put on display so effectively."
