Sir George reopened Thorntons in Andover, when the shop started trading in Union Street on Saturday.

There had been a branch of Thorntons in the Chantry Centre, but that closed last year. "It is really good news for Andover that the Thornton brand has returned to the town, with their high quality chocolates being on sale again. I wish David Stanbridge, who has the franchise, every success in his shop, which is co-located with Tip Top Balloons." Thorntons and Tip Top Balloons is a business owned by Dave and his wife, with members of the family helping in the shop. "It is a real vote of confidence in Andover that, at a time when other branches of Thorntons are closing, Thorntons are once again at the heart of Andover, and I hope the business is a huge success."
