2015 is the Women's Institute Centenary year, and the Women's Institute Baton is travelling to all the WI groups in the UK. In Hampshire, a handover took place at the Café Dome at Brighton Hill, where the Loddon Group WI handed over the Baton to the officers of the Alresford Group WI. The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane and local MP Sir George Young were at the celebratory lunch. Valerie Bullions, Chair of the Loddon Group WI handed over the Baton to Gill Graham Maw, President of the Alresford WI, and then there was a light lunch, with the WI cake to follow.

"This was a marvellous celebratory event, and the WI has done so well to flourish after 100 years by constantly adapting and changing to meet modern needs. I was delighted to hear how well the various groups in Hampshire are doing, and I am grateful to the officers of the WI for all the work which goes into compiling a lively programme, and organising all the necessary events."
