Sir George visited the “Greener Environment” Exhibition, held at St Mary’s Church Hall, Tadley by AWE. (See invitation below)
“It was a good idea of the Local Liaison Committee to invite AWE to show their exhibition to local people, as well as to their own employees. I was impressed by the steps taken by AWE to minimise the impact of what they do on the local community and to show how they are achieving world-class standards in so many areas of their work.”

I am pleased to invite you to visit the AWE Environment Exhibition which is being staged at St Mary's Church Hall, Bishopswood Road. Tadley, on Thursday 16 November from 12noon to 8 pm and on Friday 17 November from 12noon to 6pm.
We have held successful environment Exhibitions at both our Aldermaston and Burghfield sites for the past two years. The aim has been to promote awareness amongst our staff on how they can help to protect the environment both at home and at work.
This year, as part of our policy of openness and with a view to sharing ideas about best practice in environmental protection, we decided to make the exhibition available in the local community.
Although AWE has participated in outside exhibitions on many occasions in the past, this is the firs time that we have hosted an off-site exhibition purely for members of the public. We are very grateful for the support of members of AWE's Local Liaison Committee in helping us to achieve this.
I should be delighted if you would be able to accept my invitation to see how we at AWE are working to protect our environment. Members of our staff will be in attendance throughout to answer any questions that you may have.
If you are able to attend I should be grateful if you would let me know the approximate time you would wish to visit. I look forward to seeing you.
