Sir George visits Seeability project in Tadley
25 Jun 1999
Sir George visited Heather House in Tadley on June 25th, to see the facilities that had been built there by Seeability, the trading name of the Royal School for the Blind.

Heather House has two bungalows, accommodating eight young adults in each, providing a service for young adults with a visual impairment, especially juvenile Batten’s disease. Attached to the bungalows is an activity and resource centre, and a suite where parents of the residents can stay.

“This is a national Centre of Excellence, both in design and in the quality of support for the young people who will stay here, with the first moving in at the beginning of July.”

With Sir George Young are Avril Burdett, David Ireland, Appeal and Public Relations Director of Seeability, Janet Dewar and Robin Bradley, Chief Executive of AWE at Aldermaston, who have helped the project.

“I nwas delighted to hear how warm and welcoming the people of Tadley had been to the project, and wish it every success.”
