£3500 was raised for St Peter's Church Heating Appeal at an Auction of Promises in the Village Club at Goodworth Clatford. Local auctioneer Bob Herbert coaxed the money out of the village in 70 minutes, selling off 42 lots which included several weeks of holiday accommodation donated by people in the village.
Tea on the Terrace of the House of Commons, donated by Sir George, raised £260.
Before the auction, arranged by Jean Shellard, the Harlequin entertained the bidders, putting them in a generous mood.
