At a Reception at the House of Lords, Sir George talks to Fred Broughton, Chairman of the Police Federation.
"We discussed the problems that confront the force in Hampshire, where it is difficult to retain and recruit officers because of the cost of housing. I was interested to hear that officers who are leaving are not going to London - where the allowances are higher - but to Devon and Cornwall, where housing is cheaper."
"I also expressed my concern at the number of officers opting out of the Police Pension Scheme because, at 11% of salary, it is quite a chunk of their income."
