Accompanied by County Councillor Pat West, Sir George met the Heads of Knights Enham Infants and Junior Schools.
He is shown with Carol Burwell, Head of the Infants School.
"I wanted to talk to the Heads and staff of these two schools, which do such excellent work with children, some of whom come from challenging backgrounds. I wanted to see what might be done to improve the quality of life on King Arthur's Way Estate, from which many of the children come, which in turn would help the school."
"I was pleased to hear that installing CCTV was protecting the school; but it was clear that more needs to be done to provide activity and entertainment on the estate for the children who live there. Many of the attractions are some way away, and more should be available closer to home."
Sir George was impressed by the happy and positive atmosphere in both schools. "I know that King Arthur's Way has an "image problem"; but the vast majority of the families who live there are decent people and the schools provide high quality education and support."
