A guest for coffee at Bishopswood Court, Hangar rd, Tadley was the local MP, Sir George Young.
Bishopswood Court was built by Basingstoke and Deane Council and opened by Sir George's predecessor as local MP, Sir David Mitchell, in 1993. It is now run by Oakfern Housing.
"This is one of the best designed sheltered housing schemes I have seen, with generous spaces inside, and a very pleasing exterior. They are lucky to have as a resident a retired professional gardener, who looks after the greenhouse and some of the borders."
Sir George was shown round by the manager Carole Adams. "Carole's personality and energy is one of the reasons why this is such a successful and popular scheme."
