Extract from Programme - a welcome from Mac East, Chairman, Vernham Dean Playing Fields Association

"Welcome to the 29th Annual Vernham Dean Fete. I have the pleasure to be this year’s Chairman and have been a member of the Playing Fields Association continuously since its formation in 1968. During the afternoon you can find me, as usual ,running the Bric-a-Brac. We have all the usual stalls for you, plus some interesting new attractions, so take the time to walk around the whole field and visit as many stalls as possible. Several village organisations will be running their own stands today so do try and support them all.
The Association raises money to provide facilities for everyone on the field. We currently support seven village football teams, a ladies netball side and offer tennis facilities free to villagers as well as providing an excellent location for general recreation.
The village school adjacent to the field also benefit by using the field for sports activities.
This evening after the Fete we will be having a Karioke so for those who fancy their chances at being a Popstar do come along and enjoy the rest of the day. A reminder that dogs are not allowed on the field."
