Field Farewell Party

2:30 pm 7 July 2001

Sponsored by: BRYANT HOMES

John Hanson School has been resident in Andover since 1581, the current school buildings dating back to 1926. Sports, games and community events are likely to have been held on this field for three quarters of a century and the number of pupils that will have used the field has been estimated to be approaching 50,000.

Today's Farewell Party is very special, the end of an era and a significant milestone not just for John Hanson School but also for the community of Andover. We hope this event will ensure that the final days of the school field will have been recorded to mark this historic event.

The programme contains a wide range of entertainment, displays, workshops and good food. We hope that you will enjoy taking your time relaxing in these superb surroundings and enjoying the atmosphere one more time. There are tours of the school organised for ex-pupils or anyone else wanting to revive past memories.

We are absolutely delighted to have Bryant Homes as our sponsor and would like to thank them for all their help in organising this event. It is appropriate that both organisations should have worked together leading up this party and there will be a symbolic handing over of the field to Bryant Homes at 6.00pm. This will be followed by the release of 2000 yellow and black environmentally friendly balloons, a fitting climax.

Thank you for supporting this party that marks the first of several events celebrating the school in its final year before moving to the new school building in September 2002. We hope you will enjoy the party.
