Iain Duncan Smith wins Leadership Election

Iain Duncan Smith with his wife Betsy after winning the Leadership election by 155933 votes to 100864 - 60% to 40%.

"Many congratulations to Iain on his victory and on achieving a clear mandate to lead the Party. I of course will play my part in bringing the Party together after this prolonged Leadership contest, and I know that all those who – along with me – supported Ken Clarke will also want to rally round the new Leader.
I am glad that Iain is including in his team some of the able young people from Ken Clarke’s campaign, as well as some of the other contenders in the Leadership contest. This will help to heal the wounds and build bridges.
What all Conservatives should now do is unite and focus on the weaknesses and failings of the Labour Party who have promised so much and delivered so little.”
