At the Abbotts Ann Village Fete, one of the stalls invited people to guess the weight of the 4 Bell at St Mary's Church. Sir George guessed 708 lbs, and was the nearest to the actual weight of 706 lbs. His 20p guess won half a bottle of Whisky ( Grouse, not Bells.)
He collected his prize at St Mary's Church, with the bellringers.

"St Mary's Abbotts Ann Bell Ringers do a fine job with the six bells in the Church, and are always looking out for new ringers. Anyone interested should contact Gay Sutton on 01264 710999."
