At St Mary's Church Centre, World Alzheimers Day was held with a PG Tips Alzheimers Tea Break.

Sir George looked in with other Andover residents who were helping to raise funds, and raise the profile of the illness.

"Alzheimers Diseas is the most common form of dementia; it affects people of all ages, although it is more common among older people. Over 700,000 people in the UK have dementia and the wider impact on families and friends means that millions of people's lives are affected by dementia.

As yet, there is no cure, although drugs can treat the symptoms in the early stages. The Alzheimer's Society is the leading care and research charity, providing advice and support for people with dementia and their carers. I am delighted that it is raising money in Andover and elsewhere so it can provide an even higher quality of service."
