Sir George visits Weyhill Fair site with Parish Councillors
30 Jul 1999
Sir George meets parish councillors from Penton Grafton, John Payne and Louis Atkinson on the site of Weyhill Fair. As part of the redevelopment of the site, Weyhill will get a new village hall, and the Parish Council will own the refurbished stalls from Weyhill Fair, which they will rent out as starter units. "I was most impressed by the scheme, and by the way the Parish Council consulted extensively with local people to get a scheme they felt happy with. I was also impressed by the determined way the Parish negotiated with the local council to get a viable scheme with amenity space for local children, and the possibility of a multi-use sports area."
