Max Hastings addresses local farmers
23 Nov 2001
Guest speaker at the Annual Dinner of the Basingstoke and District Agricultural Society was Max Hastings, Editor of the Evening Standard and former war correspondent.
Saying that he enjoyed fishing and shooting in Hampshire, Mr Hastings paid tribute to the way farmers had coped with the difficulties that had recently confronted them.
This year's President is Nigel McNair Scott, who presided at the dinner with his wife County Councillor Anna McNair Scott. Sir George and Lady Young were there with Andrew Hunter MP for Basingstoke and his wife Jan.
