Getting up early, Sir George was at the Andover sorting office by 6.30 to see the Christmas mail being sorted- "But the postmen and women are there by then every day."
"Over the past year, I have had no complaints about the mail - though I know the pressures that the service is under. My constituents get on well with their local postman."
Sir George went round with Geoff Yates, the manager, and met all the staff and watched the Chirstmas Draw at the Sorting Office.
"Obviously those who work for Royal Mail are worried by what they read of the future. If changes have to be made, I hope that we won't lose the pride in the service that I saw in the sorting office."
