"When the Daily Mirror has a headline saying Stephen Byers is a waste of space, you know something is going on. That was followed by headlines such as these.

"The Tories have outflanked Labour on Lords Reform" The Independent, 14/01/02
"Leap In the dark, Do not rule out a Tory revival" The Guardian 15/0l/O2
"This is Tory leader's chance to surprise" Evening Standard
"In the end, you can trust a tortoise" The Times 14/01/02
"Tories return to planet earth" Evening Standard10/01/02
"At last, a truly moral solution to rising crime" Daily Mail.

"I think the tide has turned; Labour is losing public support and there is renewed interest in our views."
