£100,000 was raised to replace the old bowling green at the Recreation Ground at St Mary Bourne with a new one with greater capacity to meet both the rising demand for the game and the higher standards required. Help came from the National Lottery, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, with some £20,000 raised locally. The green is owned by the Parish Council, but will be run by the Bowling Club.
