The AFGM of Baughurst Branch of NWHCA was held at Heath End Village Hall, and David Harris was elected Chairman.

Talking after the AGM, Sir George predicted that the imminent local elections would see a decline in support for the Government."There is no real incentive for those who have supported Labour in recent elections to vote Labour on May 2nd. There are real problems in delivery, clear for all to see, on transport, health and law and order.
The interesting question is what will happen to those votes. Will people abtain, vote LibDem or Conservative? Our job is to persuade them to vote for us; the LibDems are more leftwing than the Government, committed to more public expenditure, yet higher taxation, more public ownership and a more lenient approach on law and order. We will offer value for money and downard rather than upward pressure on the Council Tax."
