The British Lung Foundation held a reception at the House of Commons to raise MP's awareness of the many illneses that affect the lung.

2002 is the British Lung Foundation's Challenge Year. They want to take on the challenge of defeating lung disease, whether that means finding new ways to diagnose, treat, prevent and cure all lung diseases, or making a real difference to quality of life of the 8 million people who live with a lung disease now.

"Because these illnesses are often not acute, they tend to get less priority than other illnesses; and it also seems that it is more difficult to get therapeutic treatment which can assist recovery. I promised that I would ask local health trusts how they deal with lung illnesses locally."
