Sir George visits Whitchurch station with two Whitchurch residents to see the continuing difficulties facing both commuters and local residents due to the inadequacy of car parking at the station.

"There have been some changes recently, but they don't tackle the underlying problem. South West Trains have been more successful in attracting fresh customers than expanding the carpark. The delay by the Government in awarding the new franchise has not helped, as South West Trains don't know whether they will be running the service next year - so they have little incentive to build a new carpark."

Sir George's preferred solution is a new carpark on the north side of the tracks, accessed off the Newbury road.

Therese Coffey and Lucinda Henzell-Thomas are standing for the Council, and better carparking provision will be part of their manifesto.
