Chris Packham, the presenter of Springwatch and Autumnwatch came to the Hawk Conservancy to open the new restaurant, the Feathers.

Marion Paviour, chairman of the Hawk Conservancy, said that the construction of the restaurant had been made possible by a generous donation of £100,000 by the Plain Action Trust, and with help from the Conservancy's bank. The restaurant would increase the catering capacity of the Hawk Conservancy, replacing Duffy's, which was now too small. The Feathers would also be open to visitors who weren't also visiting the Hawk Conservancy.

Chris Packham explained how the Hawk Conservancy needed to move with the times in order to remain competitive in the tourist market, and complimented Ashley Smith and his team on growing the business so successfully over the past 20 years. After the opening, there was a flying display by some of the birds of prey at the Conservancy.
