| EDM 288 - Housing for ex-HMF |
| The issue: |
Dear Sir,
I am writing to enquire if you are aware of the above EDM which highlights the needs for former members of HMF who are in the difficult position of failing to find proper housing. I know you are a strong supporter of HMF and with so many (both serving and ex) living in your constituency, I would encourage you do sign your name to this very worthy EDM.
I thank you in advance for your support.

Many thanks for the email via my website. I am indeed anxious that those who have served in the Armed Forces should not be penalised when it comes to priority for housing because they don’t have a local connection. This may well be because they have been serving abroad, or being moved around the UK. I am not a fan of EDM’s; they have become a form of parliamentary graffiti with thousands of them on the order paper. As a former Minister, I don’t believe they are the best way of influencing the Government. Instead, I prefer to write to Ministers myself raising the issue and asking what they plan to do about it. That is what I am doing in this case and I will let you know how I get on. If you come across anyone in the constituency who is getting a raw deal, please let me know.
Best wishes, George Young
