Access to Doctors surgery's
The issue: Sir George

I though you may be interested in the following:

I tried to book an appointment this morning to see a doctor (after that I would go private if necessary), I was able to be reasonably flexible and take a morning slot over the coming week. None are available.

I am reduced to calling at 8.00am (no doubt to wait for some considerable time) to get an emergency slot)

As somebody who pays over £50k in tax a year (excluding all the other hidden taxes) this level of service is awful.

What about making morning slots and late afternoon slots (and lunchtime) for working people only?

In mitigation, the receptionist was extremely polite and tried to be helpful and admitted it was very poor.

I also accept it is the holiday season but sadly medical complaints do not wait for such issues

My response:
Many thanks for the email and I was sorry to hear of the problem you had fixing an appointment with your GP.

In the first instance, I would like to take this up with the Surgery, but I will do so without revealing which patient I am contacting them about and in a conciliatory manner. When I have a response, I would like to share it with you and if the reason relates to some directive from the Department I will take it up with them.

Best wishes, George Young
