Problems with speed on B3400 by Deane Gate Inn
The issue: Dear Sir
Would it be possible to set speed camera on B3400 near the Deane Gate Inn because traffic is very fast some people coming up to 80 miles p/h in their cars. Public buses also come very fast and one day it couldn't stop when I was waiting on the bus stop. It is so difficult to cross the road for pedestrians. Also the phone box - restricts view for the drivers as well as the bus shed and the sign post.
Kindest regards

My response: Many thanks for the email. The B3400 between Oakley and Overton is dangerous, and there have been too many accidents recently, some of them sadly fatal. I have supported speed reductions on the road all the way between Basingstoke and Andover.

I will certainly pursue with police your suggestion of a camera to monitor speeds at the foot of the hill by the Deane Gate and let you know how I get on.

Best wishes, George Young
