| The issue: |
Sir George,
I do not know if you attended the Naomi House Commons debate held yesterday. Many local MPs spoke at it. I was particularly annoyed by one comment the HM Treasury Parliamentary Secretary (Angela Eagle) made. She stated:
“……if one looks at the list of charities that are most affected by the freezing of their assets in Icelandic banks, all are worthy but not all tie in directly with objectives that we would normally expect public money to be used for. I am a great lover of cats, and Cats Protection is one of the charities. How would we distinguish between helping one charity and another in that context, and do so in a way that could be seen to be fair legally?”
So Angela Eagle cannot distinguish between the plight of dying children in a hospice with that of cats needing protection. This is an outrageous position for the Government to adopt. Would it be possible to convey my grievance to the Parliamentary Secretary?

I will drop you a line about this, confirming that I am pursuing this with Angela Eagle, the Minister responsible.
