Sir George
I am currently watching the Treasury Committee hearings with the "bankers".Quite rightly they are being scrutinised for their failings and ommissions. I would feel happier if MPs and Lords were subject to similiar public scrutiny over their expenses and in the recent csae the alleged bungs for revising legislation. It is time that you as regulators ensured that similiar regulation was in place for legislators. As someone is deeply interested in the political process it feels like corruption and will only serve to diminish our democracy further with the latent dangers that may follow.
This is not directed at yourself whom I believe to a representative with integrity but I wish I could apply the same values to your colleagues
Regards

Many thanks for the email.
As you will know, my own expenses are published on my website, and the House of Commons is shortly to publish receipts for the past three years. I welcome this, and found the attempt to withhold this information wholly counter-productive.
It is a serious offence to accept funds for advocacy, and there have been no known instances of it recently in the Commons. Any allegations would be referred to the independent Commissioner for Parliamentary Standards.
The House of Lords is reviewing its own procedures in the light of recent allegations, and I spoke about this in the House on Feb 2nd. The speech is on my website.
Best wishes, George Young
