MP expenses
The issue: Sir George,
Such a relief to find your name absent from the listing within the Daily Telegraph on the above matter, are you confident of that continuing. I note that you publish your expenses, how long have you been doing that ?
Why are we not calling for a general election now, to sort the wheat from the chaff and change the goverment ?
You responses and opinions will be of interest.

My response:
Thank you for the email. This is a subject that has generated a huge amount of public interest and anger.

You ask when I first started giving details of my expenses and the answer is November 1st 2005 – see http://www.sirgeorgeyoung.org.uk/FAQ/newsitem.cfm?newsid=3477

As to my claims, I have sought to be open about my expenditure, and prudent with taxpayer’s money. I hope they survive scrutiny by the public and the Daily Telegraph.

A General Election is normally called to decide which Party should govern the country for the next five years. I see difficulty, at the same time, in holding an election to sort out which MP’s have misused their expenses. I expect that, between now and when an Election is called, the parties will ensure that they put up candidates whose records on this front are defensible.

Best wishes, George Young
