||It was a releif, although not at all surprising, to see you come out of the Telegraph expenses story with your reputation intact. The House needs more selfless MPs like you that are interested in what the country needs rather than "What's in it for me", the fact that there are a great deal of members like you is overlooked by the media, this must bring great annoyance and frustration to the "Good guys", it does to me.
If you do become Speaker who would be our voice in the chamber, if you do choose to stand I wish you success.

Many thanks for the supportive email. I believe in a free press, which means they have the right to turn us over – unpleasant though it may be – and we have brought this down on our own heads.
There is a job of work to be done in rebuilding the credibility and integrity of our democratic institutions and I will play my part. I am still reflecting on whether to throw my hat into the ring for the Speaker.
Best wishes, George Young
