Please tell me that you did not say, as quoted in Cycling Weekly that the CTC attracts its fair share of "Lycra Louts"
As a former chairman of the national organisation I found this comment, if you said it, to be offensive in the extreme. Along with many touring cyclists I have worn lycra shorts as they are the most siutable kit for modern cycling. In my membership of the CTC over 50 years I have never come across members who could be described as loutish. A bit odd may be but not loutish and they are extremely resonsible users of the roads.
I had the pleasure of your company many years ago when you were my guest at a function in London. I was a Director of a leading Company.
Public apology please.

Thank you for the message. I am not aware of ever making the comment to which you refer, and would be grateful if you could fax/email the article which makes such an allegation. (Fax 020 72192566, email sirgeorge@sirgeorgeyoung.org.uk) |
