Smoking
The issue: Dear Sir George
I am writing with reference to the ban on smoking in enclosed public areas which I assume you suported in the vote yesterday evening.
My personal opinion is that this is wrong, however, like all other smokers I shall just have to get used to it.
My point of concern is regarding the excemption of The Palace of Westminster on the grounds that it is a Royal Palace. What sort of example is this? The MP's vote for a ban to affect everyone but themselves. At the moment it is a case of total hypocrisy. I assume that you will be requesting legislation to change this. If not I sincerely request that you do so.
How can the general public have respect for their MP's when they vote for one law for the public and one for themselves?
Best Wishes

My response: Thank you for the email; I quite agree that if MP’s are to stop other people smoking in their clubs, we should stop smoking in our own.
Best wishes, George Young
