Dear Sir George,
Firstly may I thank you once more for coming to see us all this morning at Shepherds Spring Pre-School. We all felt more informed of the situation as it stands now.
The other reason for my email is to formally invite you to open the Shepherds Spring School Fete, it is, as discussed earlier today, on Saturday 17th June @ 2pm. This invitation is, of course, open to your wife too. We very much hope you and your wife will be able to make it. Look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks for the invitation to the opening of the School Fete. I am afraid I cannot do this; my god-daughter is getting married that day and I will be at her wedding.
I am writing to you separately about the future of the school and the way forward.
