"Now that Jodie Scheckter has offered the club a 25 year lease, they can plan ahead with confidence. Plans for the new clubhouse are with Basingstoke and Deane awaiting approval, and half the £450,000 required has already been raised. It was good to see LeRoy Angel at the event - last year's RFU President - as the RFU have offered the club £100,000 as an interest free loan. The Club also has £40,000 of its own resoruces to go towards the scheme." The Club President David Brewerton explained the plans, which are based on having a minimum carbon footprint. "This is entirely in keeping with Jodie Scheckter's vision for the rest of his estate." The Club hopes the building will be completed by the end of next year. This season, the Club's first team is top of the league with an unbeaten run of 10 games. "This is a first class Club, with strong roots in the local community, providing a warm and friendly environment for seniors, veterans and junior rugby; and one of only a handsful of Hampshire clubs that have been awarded the RFU seal of approval." http://www.overtonrugby.com |
