Sir George visits Kimpton School.
14 May 2000
Sir George Young visited Kimpton School on April 14th with Roger Gross, Managing Director of Icentrix Education Solution.
Icentrix has developed an education solution to provide access to the world wide web, email and web-based applications for pupils using low-cost used computers. The Marionet Internet Appliance - shown in picture - is a powerful computer that runs a multi-user version of Netscape's Navigator Web Browser.
"I was most impressed by what I saw, and I believe that centrix, based in my constituency, has a great future. Kimpton School is the first to use this system, and I saw eight children acting the world wide web through one ISDN line. It is a very cost-effective solution, and I hope other schools will follow Kimpton." said Sir George.
