Pamela Diamond, Chief Executive of Andover Community Education, welcomed guests to their premises in the High Street to celebrate the obtaining of a grant from the Big Lottery.

£8,500 was donated by the Big Lottery to enable ACE to develop a series of student-friendly audio discs. These teach the non-reader the alphabet, and then develop steps in reading.

Speaking at the launch, Sir George congratulated Pam on securing the grant, and adding another valuable service to those already provided by ACE. "There are many adults who have a literacy problem, and these self-help discs will enable them to come to terms with the alphabet and to develop a capacity to read. I congratulate Lianne Wright on developing the software, and for her input in to the project".

Also at the launch was the Major of Test Valley, Cllr Zilliah Brooks and Cllr Sandra Hawke, a long standing supporter of ACE.
