Simon Mayor and Hilary James entertained an audience of about 100 at Amport Church with their mandolin and guitar playing. Funds raised go to St Mary's Church Amport, and to charities helping those with dementia. "Simon and Hilary have been to Amport before, and it was a pleasure to welcome them back. Simon Mayor is one of the world's formost mandolinists - also composing for the instrument, and his mandolin CDs sold well at the end of the programme. Hilary James has a marvellous voice, and she is also a talented player of the giant mandobass and accompanies Simon on the guitar with anything from Vivaldi to Blue Grass. They rounded off the evening with a performance of the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, and I hope it won't be too long before they come back again.
