Melinda Messenger and Sir George opened the Ecchinswell Village Fete, raising funds for the school, the church and the village hall.
They were introduced by Tim Hall, the Master of Ceremonies, and both Sir George and Melinda promoted the wide range of entertainment available. This included clay pigeon shooting, archery, ferret racing - as well as the traditional attractions. Melinda Messenger, star of Cowboy Builders, has recently moved into the village from Aldermaston with her children, and she said that she was delighted to help open the village fete.
Afterwards Sir George went on to North Waltham, where St Michael's Church was holding its annual fete, which included traditional events such as a sack race.
